The dream is real
Greetings from the Aloha Outpost Internet Café in lovely Pahoa, Hawaii. It is a beautiful day here in paradise. I decided to take the day off from working on the land. I drove down the Red Road stopping at various awesome places along the coast and bathing at the hot pool. Now I’m enjoying town life in Pahoa.
I moved on the land Monday. I have a cabin tent under a tarp and a good sized clearing where I’m setting up a “kitchen and dinning room.” I sleep really well there and feel very much at home. I had to work very hard to get to this point, but I enjoyed it all and am in much better shape because of it. Most of all, I really feel at home there and developing that home will be my main project for some time now.
My lovely wife Geraldine is coming tomorrow. I see why Adam asked God to give him a helpmate to work in the garden. May the dream continue to unfold.
Best wishes and aloha.

Aloha from the Big Island
Aloha. Greetings from the Big Island. I’m staying at a vacation rental place in Hawaiian Paradise Park until I can move onto our land, hopefully in a week or two. It’s simple but nice. In the week I’ve been here, I bought a truck that is just what I wanted, a ’98 Mazda B4000 4X4 that has high mileage, but is in good condition. I cleared a good sized clearing on the land using hand tools and just bought a chain saw for the heavier stuff. The lava is fairly soft and I can do some leveling by hand. I’m wondering if I might be better off getting a smaller dozer to do the leveling rather than the D9 which many recommend. I have a small lot and want to preserve as much of the natural environment as possible.
